What is Softwashing, and why is it better than pressure washing?
Softwashing is the gold standard for roof cleaning and is the only method recommended by leading UK roof tile manufacturers and home insurance providers. It gently removes 100% of moss, algae, and lichen using specifically designed solutions rather than high pressure. Pressure washing risks cracked tiles, leaks, and voided warranties / home insurance policies. Our advanced Softwash gives you dramatic, long-lasting results without any risk or worry.
How do you clean the roof?
First, we remove 95% of moss buildup using specialised, long-reach roof moss removal tools from ladders or a small platform. The only bits we don’t remove at this stage are the tiny bits around the edge of the tile which can’t be removed without risking tile movement – something we would never risk doing. Next, we apply our specialist Softwash solution. This powerful solution is designed to kill moss, algae, lichen, and mould. A lot of the remaining moss is killed instantly and falls off straight away, leaving just 1-2%. This last bit is then killed by the Softwash solution within the next 30 minutes. After it’s killed, it can no longer attach itself to the roof tile, so it will simply fall off as soon as it’s exposed to a bit of natural rain and wind.
